Spectators: 6726 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1726, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Jeff Halloran started the match with the kick off. Neil Hanson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Simon Paley in the 5th minute of play. Jeff Halloran received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Graham Morrison tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Brett Elding sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Joseph Greenwood hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. In the 14thth minute of the game Brett Elding who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Stratton's Neil Hanson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Neil Hanson came out of the goal in the 15th minute to try and stop a shot by Whitton City's Brett Elding. But to his dismay, Brett Elding quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in Stratton's zone, Simon Paley stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Neil Hanson came out of the goal and Simon Paley tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Whitton City's Graham Morrison played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jeff Halloran in the 25th minute of play. If Jeff Halloran had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 31st minute, Lee Tomkins hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 33rd minute Brett Elding shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Neil Hanson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Neil Hanson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Simon Paley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Todd Carragher sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Whitton City's Ben Morley got a free kick in the 38th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Whitton City's zone, Todd Carragher stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Graham Morrison came out of the goal and Todd Carragher tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Simon Paley was the one to do the kick off. An unexpected shot in the 54th minute by Brett Elding got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 58th minute Simon Paley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Neil Hanson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jeff Halloran sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the Whitton City defense, Jeff Halloran kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Graham Morrison. The Whitton City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Graham Morrison should have stopped the shot. Jeff Halloran fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Graham Morrison having to interfere. Brett Elding received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Neil Hanson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Stratton's Neil Hanson got control of the ball when Brett Elding tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jeff Halloran fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Graham Morrison having to interfere. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Whitton City had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
