Kelvin Bannister scored 0-1 in the 6th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Neil Hanson, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Larry Bancroft had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sol Castleton made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Todd Carragher sent off a good shot on target. Joseph Greenwood hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. The supporters of Stratton booed when RockIT was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frank Lemerond didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sol Castleton was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Eddie Joy. Kelvin Bannister received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Neil Hanson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A hard shot 27 in the game by Todd Carragher from a close distance when the talented Sol Castleton managed to make a qualified save. RockIT's players were relieved. 31 minutes into the game, Kelvin Bannister cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Neil Hanson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 35th minute, Larry Bancroft made a precise shot to the right of Neil Hanson. Stratton's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Sol Castleton made an important save on a dangerous shot by Todd Carragher in the 42nd minute. RockIT's Sol Castleton proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 48th minute of the match, managed to save RockIT from getting a goal against them. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jeff Halloran to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Todd Carragher shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sol Castleton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stratton's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Eddie Joy in the 56th minute. The corner led Stratton's Eddie Joy to fire away a dangerous shot which Sol Castleton despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 60th minute Kelvin Bannister shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Neil Hanson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kelvin Bannister got free with Neil Hanson in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A very good chance for a goal. 79 minutes into the match, RockIT's goal looked a bit too open when Todd Carragher came free, but Sol Castleton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 83 minutes into the match, Stratton's goalkeeper Neil Hanson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Kelvin Bannister. In the 88th minute, Gary Dewhirst hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Stratton fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. RockIT were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
