Brixton's Peter Parrott got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Holton-le-Clay FC's Robin Goodfellow played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Simeon Crowell in the 41st minute of play. Johnnie Phippard might have been able to make a better finish in the 42nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Derek Miller. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Johnnie Phippard ran back to his position shaking his head. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Johnnie Phippard was the one to do the kick off. Jeff Barker kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. If Tris Lawless had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Holton-le-Clay FC's zone, Simeon Crowell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Simeon Crowell managed to get in a good position for a shot. Brixton's supporters rose to their feet, but Simeon Crowell was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Robin Goodfellow breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 71st minute, Simeon Crowell left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Brixton fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Isaac Shakespeare charged in rather forcefully in the 75th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Isaac Shakespeare the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tris Lawless couldn't finish the play. Reg Impey lost his temper 96 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. 95 minutes into the game, one of Brixton:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. When the match was over Brixton could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Holton-le-Clay FC throughout the match.
