Spectators: 7598 (Terracing: 5700, Seating: 1747, VIP seats: 151) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Henry Simpson started the match with the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ash Barratt in the 3rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Brendon Prior prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 8 minutes into the game, Dan Bancroft was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Norby's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Alton the free kick. A collision led to Norby getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Dan Bancroft hit a great ball. In the 10th minute of the match Bart Bridgeman shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Martyn Gough showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Henry Simpson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Martyn Gough having to make a save. When Henry Simpson came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the Alton fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Henry Simpson couldn't finish the play. In the 20thth minute of the game Ash Barratt who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Alton's Brendon Prior was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Martyn Gough took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Henry Simpson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Henry Simpson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ash Barratt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Brendon Prior tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ash Barratt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Bradley Hollingsworth struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Brendon Prior didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Norby. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ash Barratt stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the game, Bradley Hollingsworth cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Brendon Prior was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Martyn Gough came out of the goal in the 56th minute to try and stop a shot by Alton's Henry Simpson. But to his dismay, Henry Simpson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Bradley Hollingsworth in the 64thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Brendon Prior, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Grant Blackwell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Martyn Gough having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Alton's zone, Ash Barratt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Brendon Prior came out of the goal and Ash Barratt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Grant Blackwell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 77th minute, Ash Barratt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bradley Hollingsworth could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Brendon Prior made a huge save. After 78 played minutes Alton got a freekick which was hit by Toby Hough. Bradley Hollingsworth who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 80thth minute tested the skills of Brendon Prior when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Brendon Prior was out of position in the 81 minute of play, and Ash Barratt capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Ash Barratt really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. Bradley Hollingsworth sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ash Barratt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brendon Prior having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 93rd minute by Ash Barratt got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 95th minute, Ben Moss hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
