Spectators: 6817 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1717, VIP seats: 100) Reading F.C's Lloyd Bell started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute, Reading F.C's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Jacob Digby fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After 8 played minutes Reading F.C got a freekick which was hit by Luke Oliver. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lloyd Bell in the 15th minute of play forced Wallsend's goalkeeper Brandon Patterson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lloyd Bell might have been able to make a better finish in the 18th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Brandon Patterson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lloyd Bell ran back to his position shaking his head. Lloyd Bell received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Brandon Patterson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 22 minutes in the game, Mark Westerby fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Robin Hardcastle having to interfere. Jacob Digby sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 28th minute Mark Westerby shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Robin Hardcastle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 30 minutes, Mark Westerby put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Robin Hardcastle. After a defensive mix-up in Wallsend's zone, Lloyd Bell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Brandon Patterson came out of the goal and Lloyd Bell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Keith Hyde sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 42nd minute of the match Basil Golding shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Robin Hardcastle showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Leo Claydon hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. Robin Hardcastle made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mark Westerby in the 46th minute of play. Keith Hyde sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Jacob Digby sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Lloyd Bell hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Mark Westerby's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Robin Hardcastle read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 61st minute of play. Keith Hyde fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brandon Patterson having to interfere. When Lloyd Bell came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Reading F.C fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lloyd Bell couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Wallsend booed when Reading F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leo Claydon didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Wallsend's Steven Tubbs got a free kick in the 81st minute. Lloyd Bell received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Brandon Patterson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jacob Digby sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. For all the effort they put into the match, the Reading F.C players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Wallsend.
