The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Jamal Morcom sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Derek Oddy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jamal Morcom, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. In the 15th minute, Jamal Morcom got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Bob Sills had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Howard Emmerson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ivan Lovett was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. The supporters of Timsbury booed when Redruth was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eddie Butterworth didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Brett Buckler during the 36th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 36th minute, one of Redruth:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Redruth. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bob Sills to make the kick off. A collision led to Timsbury getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Zaq Blythe hit a great ball. In the 52nd minute of the match, Jamal Morcom got a very nice opportunity to score, but Derek Oddy was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The Timsbury fans' excitement grew in the 54th match minute when Timsbury's Kenny Ridgeway looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Timsbury's Derek Oddy proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Timsbury from getting a goal against them. In the 64thth minute of the game Howard Emmerson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Redruth's Ivan Lovett was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 66 minutes into the match, Redruth's goal looked a bit too open when Howard Emmerson came free, but Ivan Lovett reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 71st minute Bob Sills shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Derek Oddy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Bob Sills managed to get in a good position for a shot. Redruth's supporters rose to their feet, but Bob Sills was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Derek Oddy breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Bob Sills had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 91 played minutes Bob Sills rounded Timsbury's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-1. Redruth's Ivan Lovett played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kenny Ridgeway in the 96th minute of play.
