In the 5th minute, John-Paul Browne sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Bridgnorth's Wayne Buckle didn't even have to move. After 6 played minutes Bridgnorth got a freekick which was hit by Glen Newman. Bob Woodyat took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Spike Moody, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Spike Moody fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bob Woodyat having to interfere. In the 22nd minute of the match, Billy Edgson got a very nice opportunity to score, but Wayne Buckle was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Hertford AFC's Bob Woodyat played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Timothy Green in the 29th minute of play. Billy Edgson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Wayne Buckle made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Bridgnorth's Glen Newman got a free kick in the 38th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Bridgnorth's zone, Billy Edgson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wayne Buckle came out of the goal and Billy Edgson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Spike Moody's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bob Woodyat read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. If Spike Moody had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Spike Moody was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Spike Moody in the 53rd minute of play forced Hertford AFC's goalkeeper Bob Woodyat to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Billy Edgson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wayne Buckle showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zak Bullard, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Pat Lonsdale's late challenge caught a Hertford AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pat Lonsdale helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Bridgnorth's Pat Lonsdale got a free kick in the 63rd minute. Wayne Buckle stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Zak Bullard's shot from short distance in the 64th minute. After having played for 71 minutes, Billy Edgson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hertford AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Billy Edgson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bob Woodyat showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Spike Moody, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. Hertford AFC's Bob Woodyat proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 77th minute of the match, managed to save Hertford AFC from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Zak Bullard managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hertford AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Zak Bullard was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wayne Buckle breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 87 minutes into the match, Billy Edgson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Wayne Buckle. Bridgnorth's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Billy Edgson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. If Spike Moody had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Timothy Green sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hertford AFC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Bridgnorth for a fine match.
