The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Spike Moody had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A hard shot 5 in the game by Timothy Green from a close distance when the talented Bob Woodyat managed to make a qualified save. Hertford AFC's players were relieved. Wayne Buckle showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zak Bullard, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. 10 minutes into the match, Bridgnorth's goal looked a bit too open when Zak Bullard came free, but Wayne Buckle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 12th minute, Spike Moody hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Billy Edgson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Wayne Buckle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Bridgnorth booed when Hertford AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Donald Hurdle didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Zak Bullard managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hertford AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Zak Bullard was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wayne Buckle breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 27th minute, Pat Lonsdale hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Bridgnorth booed when Hertford AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zak Bullard didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Hertford AFC's Zak Bullard, in the 32nd minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Hertford AFC. Wayne Buckle made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Donald Hurdle in the 37th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Bridgnorth's zone, Zak Bullard stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wayne Buckle came out of the goal and Zak Bullard tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 46th minute Zak Bullard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wayne Buckle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The wind increased when Spike Moody made the kick off in the second half. Zak Bullard received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Wayne Buckle came out and tried to block the shot, but Zak Bullard slotted it home off the left post making it 0-1 in the 53rd minute. Hertford AFC's Bob Woodyat played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Timothy Green in the 57th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Billy Edgson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hertford AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Billy Edgson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wayne Buckle breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 60th minute, Glen Newman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Zak Bullard came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Hertford AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zak Bullard couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Billy Edgson got free with Wayne Buckle in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 82 minutes, Billy Edgson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hertford AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Billy Edgson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Hertford AFC's Ray Merris got a free kick in the 90th minute. Bob Woodyat showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Spike Moody in the 93rd minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Shawn Harrington during the 94th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 94th match minute, Hertford AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Shawn Harrington to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Timothy Green in the 97th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bob Woodyat prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Hertford AFC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
