Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Paul Case made the kick off and thus started the match. Jerome Dunn came free in the 26th minute and tried to tip the ball over Pierre Dexter, but to the joy of Lindfield's supporters the ball hit the crossbar and out. An unexpectedly hard shot by Conal Sinclair in the 28th minute of play forced Lindfield's goalkeeper Pierre Dexter to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Lindfield's Jon Bilton slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Michael Leslie. That made the score 1-0 after 37 minutes of play. In the 40th minute, Eric Tomkin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 42 minutes into the match, Wordsley City's goalkeeper Michael Leslie had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Niall Anson. The audience thought a goal was coming when Niall Anson got free with Michael Leslie in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jon Bilton made a kick off. Conal Sinclair received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Pierre Dexter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Lindfield's Camron Coogan got a free kick in the 64th minute. Michael Leslie was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Conal Sinclair struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Pierre Dexter didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wordsley City. The supporters of Wordsley City booed when Lindfield was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Greg MacDonald didn't get a good kick on the ball.
