After a rather tough play, Goal Diggers FC's Grant Stockton got a free kick in the 15th minute. In the 16th minute, Denny Fowler hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 20 minutes into the match, Roseburn Rovers's goal looked a bit too open when Laurence Rashleigh came free, but Lawrence Knowles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alan Holroyd during the 25th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Jerome Davies missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 31 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Howard Acton right hand side. After having played for 34 minutes, Laurence Rashleigh managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Goal Diggers FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Laurence Rashleigh was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Grant Stockton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Laurence Rashleigh to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Alan Holroyd left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. Lawrence Knowles was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 94th minute, Denny Fowler hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. For all the effort they put into the match, the Roseburn Rovers players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Goal Diggers FC.
