Mickey Naisbitt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Christian Osbon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 42 minutes into the game, Maidstone United AFC's Mike Way nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Joe Ellerby made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. After a defensive mix-up in St. Etienne's zone, Richard Lindley stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcus Rose hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Richard Lindley to make the kick off. In the 54th minute, Mike Way made a precise shot to the right of Joe Ellerby. St. Etienne's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. After 56 minutes, Marcus Rose mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Maidstone United AFC and the St. Etienne players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 56th match minute, Maidstone United AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcus Rose to maneuver through the defense. Joe Ellerby didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mike Way went, in the 79th minute, to the upper right corner, 6-1 was the resulting score. Mickey Naisbitt made a fantastic save in the 83rd minute, when Joel Castledine sent off a good shot on target. Joe Ellerby didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Richard Lindley went, in the 84th minute, to the upper right corner, 7-1 was the resulting score. 91 minutes into the game, Richard Lindley cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 8-1. Joe Ellerby was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Maidstone United AFC's Mike Way in the 96th minute got a chance for a shot 96th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Maidstone United AFC's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
