He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Polzeath reached it. 7 minutes had been played when some careless play by Nancy AFC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Steve Stamer was slow to take the kick. During this time Polzeath's players had a chance to rest. Jack Taylor in the 14thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of John-Paul Nevin, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 15th match minute, Polzeath was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Franz Scargill to maneuver through the defense. John-Paul Nevin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jimmy Riad, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. After 21 played minutes Nancy AFC got a freekick which was hit by Dom Woodman. Steve Stamer placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Jack Taylor's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but John-Paul Nevin firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 34th minute Jack Taylor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but John-Paul Nevin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jack Taylor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John-Paul Nevin having to interfere. John-Paul Nevin didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dom Woodman went, in the 41st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jack Taylor got free with John-Paul Nevin in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jack Taylor to make the kick off. Walter Gardner acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 53rd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Stephen Stevens. With a little luck, Nancy AFC's Walter Gardner got control of the ball when Syd Kinsey tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Polzeath's Stephen Stevens got a free kick in the 57th minute. Polzeath's John-Paul Nevin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jack Taylor in the 59th minute of play. Jack Taylor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 71 minutes into the match, Polzeath's goal looked a bit too open when Jack Taylor came free, but John-Paul Nevin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 74 minutes into the game, Dom Woodman was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Nancy AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Polzeath the free kick. When Nancy AFC's Jack Taylor in the 76th minute got a chance for a shot 76th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Polzeath's goalie prevented a goal. Richard Rogers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Walter Gardner having to interfere. A hard shot 83 in the game by Darius Bell from a close distance when the talented Walter Gardner managed to make a qualified save. Nancy AFC's players were relieved. A collision led to Nancy AFC getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Felix Howard hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Franz Scargill in the 90th minute of play forced Nancy AFC's goalkeeper Walter Gardner to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 91st minute Richard Rogers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Walter Gardner saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 92 minutes into the game, Franz Scargill was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Polzeath's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Nancy AFC the free kick. After 93 played minutes Polzeath got a freekick which was hit by Franz Scargill. Noel Baker took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 93rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for John-Paul Nevin. Polzeath's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Nancy AFC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Polzeath had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
