After taking down the ball on K.S.V Waregem's corner Trevor Kempson fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Pete Eslworth quite easily take care of the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Huey Hughes in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pete Eslworth prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 25 minutes into the game, Mitch Leach was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. K.S.V Waregem's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Yardley the free kick. Pete Eslworth showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adrian Claydon, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. In the 47th minute Sidney Bancroft shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Toby Topham saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 47 minutes, Stephen Goodfellow mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Yardley and the K.S.V Waregem players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 48 played minutes Yardley got a freekick which was hit by Stephen Goodfellow. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ian Caton to make the kick off. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Huey Hughes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 98th match minute, Yardley was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sidney Bancroft to maneuver through the defense. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. K.S.V Waregem had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
