The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 9 minutes, Duncan Farrell managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Troyes FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Duncan Farrell was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. K.S.V Waregem's Toby Topham played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carl Dodgson in the 12th minute of play. Kristian Sykes stood somewhat misplaced when Huey Hughes came free in front of goal and shot 1-0 to the left of him in the 13 minute. In the 16th minute Carl Dodgson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Toby Topham saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match clock showed 17 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Huey Hughes sped through Troyes FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Kristian Sykes. After a defensive mix-up in Troyes FC's zone, Adrian Claydon stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kristian Sykes came out of the goal and Adrian Claydon tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Huey Hughes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kristian Sykes having to interfere. Huey Hughes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Kristian Sykes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Brian Barat took the ball and in the 32 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Kristian Sykes. Kristian Sykes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. Toby Topham showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Duncan Farrell in the 39th minute of the match. In the 40th minute Carl Dodgson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Toby Topham saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carl Dodgson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Toby Topham tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 43 minutes into the game, Huey Hughes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Kristian Sykes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Toby Topham showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Duncan Farrell, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute.
The wind increased when Huey Hughes made the kick off in the second half. 50 minutes into the match, Troyes FC's goal looked a bit too open when Huey Hughes came free, but Kristian Sykes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 52nd minute, Cliff Whittington got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Troyes FC's zone, Huey Hughes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kristian Sykes came out of the goal and Huey Hughes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, K.S.V Waregem's Toby Topham got control of the ball when Carl Dodgson tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Huey Hughes during the 61st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When Troyes FC's Duncan Farrell in the 62nd minute got a chance for a shot 62nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye K.S.V Waregem's goalie prevented a goal. Trevor Kempson struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Kristian Sykes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for K.S.V Waregem. 66 minutes into the match, Adrian Claydon had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Kristian Sykes. Troyes FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Adrian Claydon was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. In the 70th minute, Crispin Hepburn hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Troyes FC's Cliff Whittington got a free kick in the 73rd minute. The audience was convinced that Huey Hughes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kristian Sykes was relentless in the 75th minute of the game. K.S.V Waregem's Adrian Claydon got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Huey Hughes took the ball and in the 78 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Kristian Sykes. Kristian Sykes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-0. Carl Dodgson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but Toby Topham made a huge save. 88 minutes into the match, Adrian Claydon had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Kristian Sykes. Troyes FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Adrian Claydon was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 8-0. With 91 minutes on the clock, Ronan Bittner commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After a rather tough play, Troyes FC's Ronan Bittner got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Huey Hughes took the ball and in the 94 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Kristian Sykes. Kristian Sykes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 9-0.
