After a defensive mix-up in Nancy AFC's zone, Sidney Dunn stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Walter Gardner came out of the goal and Sidney Dunn tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dale Nelson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jack Taylor in the 13th minute of play. After 20 played minutes Nancy AFC got a freekick which was hit by Jack Taylor. Wes Wills fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Walter Gardner having to interfere. Brendon Crouch kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. When Alfie Downham fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Nancy AFC's protests and gave Alfie Downham a yellow card for diving instead.
