Liverpool1978's Albert Ford proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 4th minute of the match, managed to save Liverpool1978 from getting a goal against them. When Garry Cheesman came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Liverpool1978 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Garry Cheesman couldn't finish the play. In the 12th minute Steve Shipperley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albert Ford saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Albert Ford was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Andre Duke showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 13 minute of play. 17 minutes into the match, Liverpool1978's goalkeeper Albert Ford had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Andre Duke. After a defensive mix-up in Liverpool1978's zone, Niall Pryor stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Albert Ford came out of the goal and Niall Pryor tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Liverpool1978's Albert Ford got control of the ball when Jools Button tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rob Norman hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Albert Ford made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Jools Button sent off a good shot on target. In the 30th minute Andre Duke shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albert Ford saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Liverpool1978 defense, Jools Button kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Albert Ford. The Liverpool1978 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Albert Ford should have stopped the shot. In the 40thth minute of the game Garry Cheesman who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but West Buckland AFC's Joe Bridgewater was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 44 minutes of play Liverpool1978's Rob Norman was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of West Buckland AFC booed when Liverpool1978 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rob Norman didn't get a good kick on the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Garry Cheesman to make the kick off. After some careless play in the Liverpool1978 defense, Niall Pryor kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Albert Ford. The Liverpool1978 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Albert Ford should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andre Duke in the 56th minute of play forced Liverpool1978's goalkeeper Albert Ford to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Liverpool1978's Albert Ford played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Niall Pryor in the 58th minute of play. In the 61st minute, Leon Strongman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 65 minutes into the match, Andre Duke had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Albert Ford. Liverpool1978's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Andre Duke was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. In the 71st minute, Niall Pryor made a precise shot to the right of Albert Ford. Liverpool1978's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-0. West Buckland AFC's Bobby Mortlock was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Albert Ford in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 79th minute West Buckland AFC were awarded a corner. Niall Pryor went to the cornerflag to take it. Garry Cheesman blasted a shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Joe Bridgewater having to make a save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Garry Cheesman got free with Joe Bridgewater in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Niall Pryor in the 90th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Albert Ford saved Liverpool1978 from getting behind. Albert Ford took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andre Duke, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Garry Cheesman charged in rather forcefully in the 93rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Garry Cheesman the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 93 played minutes Liverpool1978 got a freekick which was hit by Garry Cheesman. Jools Button received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Albert Ford tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. West Buckland AFC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
