Albert Ford showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martyn Sheene, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. But to his dismay, Teddy Timiney quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martyn Sheene in the 12th minute of play forced Liverpool1978's goalkeeper Albert Ford to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 15th minute Teddy Timiney shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albert Ford saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Malcolm Barkley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 22nd minute Teddy Timiney shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albert Ford saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Despite this Albert Ford quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 28th minute, Rob Norman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Albert Ford came out of the goal in the 30th minute to try and stop a shot by Kings Lynn's Teddy Timiney. But to his dismay, Teddy Timiney quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. If Teddy Timiney had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 35 minutes into the game, Kings Lynn's Martyn Sheene nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Albert Ford made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. After some careless play in the Liverpool1978 defense, Martyn Sheene kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Albert Ford. The Liverpool1978 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Albert Ford should have stopped the shot. In the 40th minute, Teddy Timiney made a precise shot to the right of Albert Ford. Liverpool1978's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-5. After a defensive mix-up in Liverpool1978's zone, Teddy Timiney stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Albert Ford came out of the goal and Teddy Timiney tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 44th minute Jochen Göring shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albert Ford saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 47 minutes into the match, Teddy Timiney had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Albert Ford. Liverpool1978's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Teddy Timiney was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-6. After the first half Kings Lynn were leading 0-6. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Garry Cheesman made a kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Liverpool1978's goalkeeper Albert Ford had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Teddy Timiney. Liverpool1978's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Martyn Sheene 54 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-7. Albert Ford showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Grant Hargrave, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Teddy Timiney got free with Albert Ford in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Albert Ford didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Teddy Timiney went, in the 61st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-8 was the resulting score. 67 minutes into the match, Jochen Göring had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Albert Ford. Liverpool1978's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jochen Göring was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-9. The crowd rose to their feet as Martyn Sheene kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Albert Ford. That made the score 0-10 in the 74 minute of play. Albert Ford was a little too slow when Martyn Sheene got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 77th minute. The score was now 0-11. 80 minutes into the game, Jochen Göring cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-12. Albert Ford was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Albert Ford made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martyn Sheene in the 84th minute of play. In the 87th match minute, Liverpool1978 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Garry Cheesman to maneuver through the defense. In the 88th minute, Martyn Sheene got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 94th minute, Teddy Timiney left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Kings Lynn fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-14. After 98 played minutes Liverpool1978 got a freekick which was hit by Malcolm Blueman. The Liverpool1978 fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Kings Lynn were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
