Spectators: 8099 (Terracing: 6076, Seating: 1862, VIP seats: 161) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Niall Pryor got the match started through his kick off. Kris Patten showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Niall Pryor, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. In the 14th minute Niall Pryor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kris Patten saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 16 minutes had been played when some careless play by Wombwell United's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Niall Pryor was slow to take the kick. During this time West Buckland AFC's players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Bobby Mortlock heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. After a defensive mix-up in Wombwell United's zone, Andre Duke stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kris Patten came out of the goal and Andre Duke tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 32nd minute of the game Danny Charles made a throw-in which Andre Duke played forward. The audience was convinced that Niall Pryor's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kris Patten was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. Wombwell United's attentive John Sutton managed to snatch the ball when Bobby Mortlock made a throw-in in the 34th minute of the game. In the 36th minute, Ronny Reddington got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Through an outstanding action, after 43 minutes, Kris Patten successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 44th minute of the match, Niall Pryor tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Kris Patten saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ronny Reddington stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute Jools Button shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kris Patten saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 64 minutes into the match, Wombwell United's goal looked a bit too open when Jools Button came free, but Kris Patten reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Niall Pryor in the 65th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Kris Patten prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jools Button sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rick Salmon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joe Bridgewater having to interfere. In the 81st match minute, West Buckland AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Danny Charles to maneuver through the defense. Wombwell United's Jerry Knight-Percival quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Bobby Mortlock, made in the 87th minute of the game. Kris Patten made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Niall Pryor in the 91st minute of play. Wombwell United's Vernon Rushmere managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Bobby Mortlock in the 93 minute of the game. If Niall Pryor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
