The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Isaac Ramsay sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Doug Warner took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Callum Beresford, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 9 minutes, Cui Zhi Zheng took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Doug Warner to make any attempt to save it. Wesley Johnstone showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Isaac Ramsay in the 12th minute of the match. Grantham Town's Isaac Ramsay got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Doug Warner made an important save on a dangerous shot by Raphaël Baptista in the 22nd minute. In the 23rd minute, Callum Beresford ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Doug Warner was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Callum Beresford sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Doug Warner didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Raphaël Baptista went, in the 27th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. Croydon's Wesley Johnstone played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Isaac Ramsay in the 30th minute of play. Wesley Johnstone made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jim Cain in the 31st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Callum Beresford in the 34th minute of play forced Grantham Town's goalkeeper Doug Warner to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Grantham Town getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Jim Cain hit a great ball. Raphaël Baptista could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Doug Warner made a huge save. 40 minutes into the match, Callum Beresford had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Doug Warner. Grantham Town's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Callum Beresford was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. Raphaël Baptista's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Doug Warner firmly grabbed it by the left post. Doug Warner was out of position in the 47 minute of play, and Callum Beresford capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Callum Beresford really showed his touch with that goal: 5-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 5-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Isaac Ramsay made the kick off in the second half. Syd Birchall kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. In the 58th minute, Tom Stamer left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Croydon fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 6-0. Doug Warner came out of the goal in the 62nd minute to try and stop a shot by Croydon's Raphaël Baptista. But to his dismay, Raphaël Baptista quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 7-0. Doug Warner made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Callum Beresford in the 67th minute of play. After 68 minutes, Raphaël Baptista mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Croydon and the Grantham Town players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Croydon's Raphaël Baptista got a free kick in the 68th minute. 71 minutes into the game, Croydon's Sam Lokongo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Doug Warner made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 8-0. Jim Cain scored 8-1 in the 73rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Wesley Johnstone, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Grantham Town's Doug Warner played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tom Stamer in the 77th minute of play. Callum Beresford took the ball and in the 78 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Doug Warner. Doug Warner dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 9-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Jim Cain managed to get in a good position for a shot. Grantham Town's supporters rose to their feet, but Jim Cain was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wesley Johnstone breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tom Stamer took the ball and in the 91 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Doug Warner. Doug Warner dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 10-1. Tom Stamer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Doug Warner showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raphaël Baptista, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute.
