Jeffrey Hindmarsh made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aaron Tomkins in the 12th minute of play. When Frankie Thorn fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Monte Castro FC's protests and gave Frankie Thorn a yellow card for diving instead. Frankie Thorn kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. With a little luck, Wooler's Joseph Mortimer got control of the ball when Marty Coogan tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gaz Hardwick got free with Joseph Mortimer in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 24 minutes into the match, Monte Castro FC's Gaz Hardwick sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Joseph Mortimer narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Kristopher Perkins managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wooler's supporters rose to their feet, but Kristopher Perkins was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jeffrey Hindmarsh breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Glenn Sollit in the 31st minute of play forced Monte Castro FC's goalkeeper Jeffrey Hindmarsh to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In a very dangerous position, a player in Monte Castro FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 33rd minute. Penalty! Jeffrey Hindmarsh showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aaron Tomkins in the 42nd minute of the match. Through an outstanding action, after 43 minutes, Joseph Mortimer successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Derek Simpson struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Joseph Mortimer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Monte Castro FC. After having played for 46 minutes, Marty Coogan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Monte Castro FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marty Coogan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Tom Dobson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Monte Castro FC booed when Wooler was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Glenn Sollit didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marty Coogan took the ball and in the 76 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Joseph Mortimer. Joseph Mortimer dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. 79 minutes into the match, Monte Castro FC's goal looked a bit too open when Anthony Ellerton came free, but Jeffrey Hindmarsh reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Derek Simpson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
