Alessandro Danza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rochester United's Alec Legzdins played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Damon Fordham in the 5th minute of play. After some careless play in the Rochester United defense, Alessandro Danza kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alec Legzdins. The Rochester United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alec Legzdins should have stopped the shot. 15 minutes into the game, Alessandro Danza cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Alec Legzdins was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a little luck, Rochester United's Alec Legzdins got control of the ball when Alessandro Danza tried to sneak it across the goal line. Damon Fordham could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Alec Legzdins made a huge save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tristram Perkins during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. If Damon Fordham had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rochester United's Alec Legzdins proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save Rochester United from getting a goal against them. Stuart Hicks received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Alec Legzdins tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 38 minutes into the match, Rochester United's goalkeeper Alec Legzdins had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alessandro Danza. In the 39th minute, Damon Fordham reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Alec Legzdins. The goal made the score 4-0. Damon Fordhams short, quick shot in the 44thth minute got Alec Legzdins to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Rochester United's Alec Legzdins proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 48th minute of the match, managed to save Rochester United from getting a goal against them. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alessandro Danza to make the kick off. In the 54th match minute, Cheltenham City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ash Allwright to maneuver through the defense. When the match had gone on for 73 minutes, Alessandro Danza put it in 7-0 from a short distance just to the right of Alec Legzdins. Alessandro Danza recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rochester United's Alec Legzdins played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henry Greenfield in the 96th minute of play. Cheltenham City walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
