The crowd rose to their feet as Stewart Locke kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Liam Friend. That made the score 1-0 in the 9 minute of play. Liam Friend made an important save on a dangerous shot by Malcolm Button in the 14th minute. Seth Mabbutt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Liam Friend made a huge save. A collision led to Greengates Goliaths getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Francis Farrell hit a great ball. In the 20th minute, Necaettin İzzet hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Malcolm Button's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Liam Friend firmly grabbed it by the left post. Greengates Goliaths's Hector Urbes got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 25th minute, Malcolm Button made a precise shot to the right of Liam Friend. Greengates Goliaths's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. In the 28th match minute, Greengates Goliaths was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Michalis Banasopoulos to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stewart Locke in the 31st minute of play forced Greengates Goliaths's goalkeeper Liam Friend to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 37 minutes into the match, Malcolm Button notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of Greengates Goliaths's Liam Friend. Liam Friend was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 44 minutes into the game, Seth Brown was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Greengates Goliaths's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Wirral Town FC the free kick. After 44 played minutes Greengates Goliaths got a freekick which was hit by Seth Brown. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Malcolm Button made a kick off. Liam Friend came out of the goal in the 52nd minute to try and stop a shot by Wirral Town FC's Malcolm Button. But to his dismay, Malcolm Button quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tristram Hill got free with Tod Ingram in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tod Ingram took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hector Urbes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hector Urbes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Hector Urbes took the ball and in the 67 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tod Ingram. Tod Ingram dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Timothy Knightley during the 70th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Greengates Goliaths booed when Wirral Town FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Timothy Knightley didn't get a good kick on the ball. Malcolm Button took the ball and in the 73 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Liam Friend. Liam Friend dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-1. 77 minutes into the match, Malcolm Button notched a goal, 7-1, to the right of Greengates Goliaths's Liam Friend. Liam Friend was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Liam Friend showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Malcolm Button, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Liam Friend showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Seth Mabbutt in the 86th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Malcolm Button in the 92nd minute of play forced Greengates Goliaths's goalkeeper Liam Friend to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Wirral Town FC fully deserved thier win.
