The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Albert Sykes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Anselmo Papo made a huge save. 20 minutes into the game, Fernando Grealish cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Gerry Howarth was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Fernando Grealish sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Bruce Arrowsmith hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. In the 26th minute of the match Sammy Pullen sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gerry Howarth skillfully saved the ball. Real Ale Madrid's Anselmo Papo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Real Ale Madrid from getting a goal against them. A collision led to Buzau getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Rodney Black hit a great ball. Real Ale Madrid were awarded a corner in the 38th minute after Buzau's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Sammy Pullen took the corner. Anselmo Papo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rowan Linkletter, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 52 minutes into the game, Fernando Grealish recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Gerry Howarth. Fernando Grealish showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. Gerry Howarth made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Esbjörn Fågel in the 57th minute of play. 58 minutes into the match, Fernando Grealish notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Buzau's Gerry Howarth. Gerry Howarth was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a defensive mix-up in Buzau's zone, Fernando Grealish stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gerry Howarth came out of the goal and Fernando Grealish tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Esbjörn Fågel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fernando Grealish sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Esbjörn Fågel struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Gerry Howarth didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Real Ale Madrid. When the match had gone on for 70 minutes, Fernando Grealish put it in 1-4 from a short distance just to the right of Gerry Howarth. A collision led to Buzau getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Gerry Howarth took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Esbjörn Fågel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fernando Grealish received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Gerry Howarth came out and tried to block the shot, but Fernando Grealish slotted it home off the left post making it 1-5 in the 87th minute. Esbjörn Fågel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Zachariasz Hoffman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gerry Howarth having to interfere. In the 96th minute Andre Bettinson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anselmo Papo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 97 minutes, Esbjörn Fågel managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Real Ale Madrid's supporters crossed their fingers, but Esbjörn Fågel was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Buzau fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Real Ale Madrid were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
