The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Harleston booed when Dover Athletic FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paul Armstrong didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eddy Boyd blasted a shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Kevin West having to make a save. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Francis Routledge managed to get in a good position for a shot. Harleston's supporters rose to their feet, but Francis Routledge was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kevin West breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 10 minutes into the match, Harleston's goal looked a bit too open when Daryl Simms came free, but Reg Christensen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 11th match minute, Harleston was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jack Weeks to maneuver through the defense. In the 13th minute Eddy Boyd shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kevin West saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 14th minute, Paul Armstrong hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Barry Peat received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Reg Christensen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 21 minutes into the match, Harleston's goal looked a bit too open when Daryl Simms came free, but Reg Christensen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 33 minutes into the match, Dover Athletic FC's goal looked a bit too open when Eddy Boyd came free, but Kevin West reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 43 played minutes Harleston got a freekick which was hit by Francis Routledge. After 45 minutes, Kirk Longden mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Harleston and the Dover Athletic FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. 45 minutes into the game, one of Harleston:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

After a defensive mix-up in Harleston's zone, Joel Bowler stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Reg Christensen came out of the goal and Joel Bowler tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 58 minutes into the match, Dover Athletic FC's goal looked a bit too open when Eddy Boyd came free, but Kevin West reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 59 minutes into the match, Sebastien Steadman notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Dover Athletic FC's Kevin West. Kevin West was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Sebastien Steadman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Kevin West tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 68 minutes into the match, Dover Athletic FC's goalkeeper Kevin West had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Francis Routledge. In the 77th minute, Harleston's Francis Routledge ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Kevin West. Kevin West yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-2. In the 80th minute, Sammy Pack hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 85 minutes into the match, Barry Peat notched a goal, 3-2, to the right of Harleston's Reg Christensen. Reg Christensen was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Kevin West made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Sebastien Steadman sent off a good shot on target. Eddy Boyd sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Harleston's Sebastien Steadman suffered a fractured collar bone after 94 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Marlon Rockett charged in rather forcefully in the 94th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Marlon Rockett the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 95th minute, Marlon Rockett hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jack Weeks recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 97th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jeremy Ingram's late challenge caught a Harleston's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jeremy Ingram helped the player get up and apologised. Harleston's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
