In the 6th minute, Eddy Boyd ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alf Battersby was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Alf Battersby showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sebastien Steadman in the 11th minute of the match. If Benjamin Barfield had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sebastien Steadman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 21 minutes into the match, Wolf Rex's goal looked a bit too open when Sebastien Steadman came free, but Alf Battersby reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A sloppy throw-in by Joseph Soares in the 24th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Wolf Rex's Rupert Fielden. Reg Christensen came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by Wolf Rex's Benjamin Barfield. But to his dismay, Benjamin Barfield quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. If Eddy Boyd had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alf Battersby showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eddy Boyd, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Alf Battersby showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eddy Boyd in the 33rd minute of the match. Alf Battersby came out of the goal in the 41st minute to try and stop a shot by Harleston's Francis Routledge. But to his dismay, Francis Routledge quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. In the 44th minute Francis Routledge shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alf Battersby saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Marty Stayton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 47th minute Benjamin Barfield shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Reg Christensen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eddy Boyd was the one to do the kick off. A collision led to Wolf Rex getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Vic Kerr hit a great ball. Benjamin Barfield fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reg Christensen having to interfere. If Sebastien Steadman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Dave Porter charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dave Porter the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Harleston getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Dave Porter hit a great ball. When Barry Morgan fell near the penalty area in the 68th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Harleston's protests and gave Barry Morgan a yellow card for diving instead. After 68 played minutes Harleston got a freekick which was hit by Barry Morgan. Marty Stayton hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hugh Haskell in the 74th minute of play forced Harleston's goalkeeper Reg Christensen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wolf Rex were awarded a corner in the 75th minute after Harleston's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Benjamin Barfield took the corner. After taking down the ball on Wolf Rex's corner Benjamin Barfield fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Reg Christensen quite easily take care of the ball. Reg Christensen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benjamin Barfield in the 78th minute of play. Bob Garrett hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Alf Battersby showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eddy Boyd in the 84th minute of the match. If Donald Moyle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Harleston's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
