The referee ignored Steaua's protests and gave Joel Emberson a yellow card for diving instead. After 6 played minutes Steaua got a freekick which was hit by Joel Emberson. During the 10th minute of the match Joel Emberson completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Joel Emberson a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Joel Emberson kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. Jeremy Ingram kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. In the 18th minute, Ahmet Bedri Durusan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After recieving a nice pass, Dover Athletic FC's Daryl Simms tried to score from far away in the 19th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Dean Baldwin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kevin West read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. When Mike Meadowcroft came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Steaua fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mike Meadowcroft couldn't finish the play. When the match had gone on for 28 minutes, Dean Baldwin put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Kevin West. 31 minutes into the match, Dover Athletic FC's goal looked a bit too open when Dean Baldwin came free, but Kevin West reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Dover Athletic FC getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Joel Bowler hit a great ball. Daryl Simms fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raimundo Heli having to interfere. Joel Bowler hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. Kevin West showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dean Baldwin in the 40th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Steaua's Dean Baldwin slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Kevin West. That made the score 2-0 after 44 minutes of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dean Baldwin was the one to do the kick off. After some careless play in the Dover Athletic FC defense, Dean Baldwin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kevin West. The Dover Athletic FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kevin West should have stopped the shot. Dean Baldwin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Steaua fans' excitement grew in the 59th match minute when Steaua's Dean Baldwin looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. If Paul Armstrong had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Raimundo Heli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daryl Simms in the 69th minute of play. In the 74th minute, Benjamin Henman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 75th minute of the match Paul Armstrong shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Raimundo Heli showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Dover Athletic FC's zone, Ahmet Bedri Durusan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kevin West came out of the goal and Ahmet Bedri Durusan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kevin West showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dean Baldwin in the 82nd minute of the match. Steaua's Benjamin Henman quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Jeremy Ingram, made in the 83rd minute of the game. Kevin West took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dean Baldwin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Dover Athletic FC booed when Steaua was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Duncan Whittaker didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Dean Baldwin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Steaua's supporters rose to their feet, but Dean Baldwin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kevin West breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Kevin West stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dean Baldwin's shot from short distance in the 92nd minute. 95 minutes into the match, Steaua's goalkeeper Raimundo Heli had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Barry Peat. Steaua's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
