Through an outstanding action, after 5 minutes, Bobby Blake successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Thanks to some nice moves Daryl Simms could shoot a difficult shot in the 9th minute, which Bobby Blake however easily saved by the left post. With a little luck, Kingswinford's Bobby Blake got control of the ball when Barry Peat tried to sneak it across the goal line. Bobby Blake took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daryl Simms, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jeremy Hall hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. In the 19th minute Thom Hopgood shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kevin West saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bobby Blake came out of the goal in the 32nd minute to try and stop a shot by Dover Athletic FC's Barry Peat. But to his dismay, Barry Peat quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. When Philip Garner came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Kingswinford fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Philip Garner couldn't finish the play. After 40 played minutes Dover Athletic FC got a freekick which was hit by Paul Armstrong. Kevin West stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Robert Boyce's shot from short distance in the 43rd minute.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Barry Peat in the 53rd minute of play forced Kingswinford's goalkeeper Bobby Blake to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Robert Boyce sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 64 minutes into the game, Thom Hopgood cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Kevin West was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The supporters of Dover Athletic FC booed when Kingswinford was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Larry Bennett didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 69 played minutes Dover Athletic FC got a freekick which was hit by Paul Armstrong. Thom Hopgood received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. In the 72nd minute, Martin Pascoe hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 74 minutes into the match, Kingswinford's goal looked a bit too open when Daryl Simms came free, but Bobby Blake reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Robert Boyce who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 76thth minute tested the skills of Kevin West when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 78 minutes, Bradley Zamora mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Kingswinford and the Dover Athletic FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 78th match minute, Kingswinford was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bradley Zamora to maneuver through the defense. Vincent Foster hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Bobby Blake showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Barry Peat in the 85th minute of the match.
