The Machiavellian fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. In the 27th minute, Ivor Henwood hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nicholas Cooke took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Walter Castledine, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Elsdon defense, Shawn Sutton kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nicholas Cooke. The Elsdon fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nicholas Cooke should have stopped the shot. Nicholas Cooke took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Walter Castledine, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 42 minutes into the game, Walter Castledine recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Nicholas Cooke. Walter Castledine showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-1. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
