Spectators: 8013 (Terracing: 6009, Seating: 1845, VIP seats: 159) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Richie Kennedy took the kick off in the first half of the match. In the 3rd minute, Tristan West hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Stan Meadowcroft kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. The supporters of FC Metal booed when Evington was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kris Bray didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 14th minute of the match Richie Kennedy shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Glen Blake showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Rupert Higgins kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. Richie Kennedy struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Glen Blake didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Metal. 22 minutes into the match, Evington's goal looked a bit too open when Rodney Rocastle came free, but Glen Blake reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Richie Kennedy got free with Glen Blake in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some careless play in the FC Metal defense, Grant Mason kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ruben Guest. The FC Metal fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ruben Guest should have stopped the shot. After 32 minutes of play, Evington's Graeme Vine made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ruben Guest was left in no man's land by his defense there! Kris Bray's late challenge caught a FC Metal's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kris Bray helped the player get up and apologised. In the 35th minute, Kris Bray hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Rhys Moss managed to get in a good position for a shot. Evington's supporters rose to their feet, but Rhys Moss was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ruben Guest breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tristan West's late challenge caught a FC Metal's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tristan West helped the player get up and apologised. Tristan West kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. Glen Blake took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pete Featherstone, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Glen Blake made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Richie Kennedy sent off a good shot on target. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Grant Mason stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Glen Blake made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lawrence Tyler in the 54th minute of play. 56 minutes into the match, Tony Heremans had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Glen Blake. Evington's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tony Heremans was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Ruben Guest showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Grant Mason, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. In the 67th minute, Ahmed Larbes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 70th play minute Grant Mason came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Ruben Guest. 1-3. In the 76th minute, Casey Trotter hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Alistair Carsley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Evington players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
