After 20 played minutes Colchester United got a freekick which was hit by Jukka Leppiniemi. In the 24th match minute, Colchester United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jukka Leppiniemi to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 24 minutes, Zackary Osbon managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lymington City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zackary Osbon was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Through an outstanding action, after 26 minutes, Natalio Arnas successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The crowd rose to their feet as Lymington City's Matthew Bzeu slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Natalio Arnas. That made the score 2-0 after 26 minutes of play. In the 33rd minute, Matthew Bzeu made a precise shot to the right of Natalio Arnas. Colchester United's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. Andrew Harkin's late challenge caught a Colchester United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After 37 minutes of play, Colchester United's George Woodhead made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Vince Perryman was left in no man's land by his defense there! Vince Perryman was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-2 at half-time.

The wind increased when Matthew Bzeu made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Lymington City booed when Colchester United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 50 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jukka Leppiniemi didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 55th minute, Colchester United's Tod Monkman dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-3. 59 minutes into the match, Colchester United's goal looked a bit too open when Trey Rothwell came free, but Natalio Arnas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lymington City's Vince Perryman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Derek Marenghi in the 93rd minute of play. 96 minutes into the game, Lymington City's Tommy Arrowsmith nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Natalio Arnas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-4. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Lymington City fully deserved thier win.
