If Bryan Short had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Laindon FC's zone, David Bambrook stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kurt Miles came out of the goal and David Bambrook tried to chip the ball over his head. In the 39th minute, Grant Couzens made a precise shot to the right of Kurt Miles. Laindon FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Grant Couzens fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kurt Miles having to interfere. Juventus's Rupert Blacknell got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gez Heslop to make the kick off. If David Bambrook had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 55 minutes, Rupert Blacknell put it in 2-1 from a short distance just to the right of Kurt Miles. David Bambrook blasted a shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Kurt Miles having to make a save.
