The crowd rose to their feet as Richie Kennedy kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jeffrey Huckerby. That made the score 1-0 in the 10 minute of play. If Richie Kennedy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 18 minutes into the game, Yağız Ulaç cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Ruben Guest was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Garth Sherwood had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 24th minute, Yağız Ulaç left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The F.C. United of Hull fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Jeffrey Huckerby made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gary Brown in the 27th minute of play. Ruben Guest came out of the goal in the 32nd minute to try and stop a shot by F.C. In the 36th minute, FC Metal's Rodney Rocastle dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-3. Gary Brown struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Jeffrey Huckerby didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Metal. In the 41st minute, Seb Morrell left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The F.C. United of Hull fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-4. A collision led to F.C. United of Hull getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Yağız Ulaç hit a great ball. Disappointed in the 2-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Richie Kennedy made a kick off. If Lawrence Tyler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. During the 55th minute of the match Isaac Hodgson completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. Jeffrey Huckerby showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rodney Rocastle, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Ruben Guest made an important save on a dangerous shot by Perry Lambourne in the 58th minute. 59 minutes into the game, FC Metal's Richie Kennedy nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jeffrey Huckerby made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-4. United of Hull's goal looked a bit too open when Lawrence Tyler came free, but Jeffrey Huckerby reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 95th minute, Lawrence Tyler got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. F.C. United of Hull had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
