Evington were furious when Rupert Higgins was red carded, 18 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 39th minute of the match, Seb Morrell tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Glen Blake saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 43rd minute, Casey Trotter got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Yağız Ulaç blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Glen Blake having to make a save. After a rather tough play, Evington's Grant Mason got a free kick in the 47th minute. Glen Blake stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Seb Morrell's shot from short distance in the 49th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Stan Meadowcroft made the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Casey Trotter got free with Jeffrey Huckerby in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Stan Meadowcroft was extremely unlucky when he, in the 70th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. The supporters of Evington booed when F.C. United of Hull was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Barry Sutcliffe didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jeffrey Huckerby showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stan Meadowcroft, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. In the 94th minute, Graeme Vine got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
