Rowan Savage dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 7th match minute, Farnborough was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Denny Holmes to maneuver through the defense. Tony Heremans lost his temper 11 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After a rather tough play, FC Metal's Tony Heremans got a free kick in the 11th minute. Ruben Guest made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Winnie Harrison sent off a good shot on target. In the 14th minute of the match, Malcolm Allwright got a very nice opportunity to score, but Ruben Guest was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Ruben Guest was a little too slow when Winnie Harrison got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 15th minute. The score was now 1-1. After having played for 21 minutes, Rodney Rocastle managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Metal's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rodney Rocastle was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Denny Holmes scored 2-1 in the 24th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ruben Guest, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When Winnie Harrison came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Farnborough fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Winnie Harrison couldn't finish the play. Denny Holmes kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Gary Brown sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lawrence Tyler in the 33rd minute of play forced Farnborough's goalkeeper Rowan Savage to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 35 minutes into the match, FC Metal's goalkeeper Ruben Guest had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Len Gardener. FC Metal's Ruben Guest proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 39th minute of the match, managed to save FC Metal from getting a goal against them. Lawrence Tyler fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rowan Savage having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Denny Holmes to strike the kick off in the second half. If Gary Brown had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ruben Guest took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Denny Holmes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of FC Metal booed when Farnborough was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Winnie Harrison didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 67th match minute, FC Metal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gary Brown to maneuver through the defense. Ruben Guest showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Denny Holmes in the 70th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Lawrence Tyler managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Metal's supporters rose to their feet, but Lawrence Tyler was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rowan Savage breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 78 minutes into the game, Farnborough's Len Gardener nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ruben Guest made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. In the 84th minute, Ahmed Larbes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 87th match minute, FC Metal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abraham Van De Wyngaert to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Farnborough getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Len Gardener hit a great ball.
