Derek Marenghi started the match with the kick off. When Tristram Reed fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Evington's protests and gave Tristram Reed a yellow card for diving instead. After 7 played minutes Evington got a freekick which was hit by Tristram Reed. With a little luck, Evington's Glen Blake got control of the ball when Gerónimo Villavicencio tried to sneak it across the goal line. Derek Marenghi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. George Woodhead sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Derek Marenghi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. George Woodhead sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Derek Marenghi who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 29thth minute tested the skills of Glen Blake when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 33rd match minute, Evington was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kris Bray to maneuver through the defense. Tod Monkman struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Glen Blake didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Colchester United. 37 minutes into the match, Grant Mason notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Colchester United's Natalio Arnas. Natalio Arnas was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 41st minute, George Woodhead left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Colchester United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. When Tristram Reed was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 44 minutes had been played. In the 47th minute of the game, Colchester United got a penalty. The shot went straight in by the left post. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-1.

Glen Blake showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from George Woodhead in the 85th minute of the match. Jukka Leppiniemi took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 87th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Glen Blake. Evington's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 87th match minute, Evington was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kris Bray to maneuver through the defense. Tristan West's late challenge caught a Colchester United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tristan West helped the player get up and apologised. In the 88th minute, Tristan West hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tod Monkman in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Glen Blake saved Evington from getting behind. When the referee ended the match the Colchester United players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
