Southampton's Martin Wilson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by George Blunt in the 32nd minute of play. Martin Wilson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Syd Renton in the 33rd minute of the match. If Seb Titmus had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Syd Renton recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Martin Wilson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Silvester Chandler, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Syd Renton was the one to do the kick off. Josh Dyson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. The supporters of Leamington Spa FC booed when Southampton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Archie Stonebridge didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jack Stayton charged in rather forcefully in the 96th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down.
