The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Matias Bulhosa came out of the goal in the 4th minute to try and stop a shot by Southampton's Seb Titmus. But to his dismay, Seb Titmus quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Jeffrey Roberts hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. If Louie Medlin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Sebastian Webster received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Martin Wilson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Matias Bulhosa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nat Langsford in the 32nd minute of play. 33 minutes into the match, London Athletic's goal looked a bit too open when Seb Titmus came free, but Matias Bulhosa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 35th minute, Seb Titmus hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Southampton's zone, Sol Cox stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Martin Wilson came out of the goal and Sol Cox tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 43 minutes, Seb Titmus managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Southampton's supporters crossed their fingers, but Seb Titmus was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The attack was good, but when Nat Langsford in the 43rd minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nat Langsford during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 45 played minutes Southampton got a freekick which was hit by Nat Langsford.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Seb Titmus made a kick off. 55 minutes into the game, Rufus Pell was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. London Athletic's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Southampton the free kick. Rufus Pell kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Ash Toovey recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Seb Titmus could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but Matias Bulhosa made a huge save. 60 minutes into the game, Jools Denham was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Southampton's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave London Athletic the free kick. Louie Medlin might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Martin Wilson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Louie Medlin ran back to his position shaking his head. Martin Wilson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sebastian Webster in the 69th minute of play. Seb Titmus fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Matias Bulhosa having to interfere. The nice shot from Seb Titmus in the 72ndth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Matias Bulhosa had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. A collision led to London Athletic getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. David Van Der Hoorn hit a great ball. Matias Bulhosa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Seb Titmus in the 86th minute. London Athletic were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
