Phil Guest showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ron Clayton in the 13th minute of the match. Benjamin Caton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Joseph Jump tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Shoreham by Sea booed when Viking Rovers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aaron Newman didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 31 minutes of play, Viking Rovers's Aaron Newman made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Joseph Jump was left in no man's land by his defense there! Shoreham by Sea's Joseph Jump proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to save Shoreham by Sea from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Aaron Newman got free with Joseph Jump in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With an all-out effort, Viking Rovers's Joseph Jump threw himself towards the right post 38 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Benjamin Caton, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Shoreham by Sea's Joseph Jump proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Shoreham by Sea from getting a goal against them. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kristian Swanson during the 47th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ron Clayton was the one to do the kick off.
