In the 16th match minute, AEK ATHENS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mark Burkinshaw to maneuver through the defense. Rodd Armitage showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frankie Collins in the 17th minute of the match. The supporters of Chelmsford City booed when AEK ATHENS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Max Marshall didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 39 minutes, Frankie Collins made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. AEK ATHENS's Rodd Armitage tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Barry Beevers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jeremy Holloway in the 44th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Frankie Collins managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chelmsford City's supporters rose to their feet, but Frankie Collins was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rodd Armitage breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Frankie Collins in the 48th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rodd Armitage saved AEK ATHENS from getting behind. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The wind increased when Frankie Collins made the kick off in the second half. Rodd Armitage was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Frankie Collins showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-3 in the 59 minute of play. Drew Edmunds received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Rodd Armitage tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, AEK ATHENS's Mark Burkinshaw got a free kick in the 65th minute. Jeremy Holloway charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jeremy Holloway the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 67 played minutes AEK ATHENS got a freekick which was hit by Jeremy Holloway. Chelmsford City's Drew Edmunds got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Frankie Collins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Chelmsford City's Conal Hanson suffered a concussion after 75 minutes and had to leave the field. When Frankie Collins came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Chelmsford City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Frankie Collins couldn't finish the play. Jeremy Holloway kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. Chelmsford City's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
