Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Dane Beaver started the match with the kick off. Alastair Patterson succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 3rd playminute. 12 minutes into the game, Dane Beaver was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Runcorn's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Droylsden the free kick. In the 18th minute, Alastair Patterson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dane Beaver in the 19th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Piers Kerridge prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Alastair Patterson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Droylsden's supporters rose to their feet, but Alastair Patterson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. George Green breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 23 minutes into the match, Runcorn's goalkeeper George Green had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alastair Patterson. When Alastair Patterson came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Droylsden fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alastair Patterson couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Runcorn's zone, Alastair Patterson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. George Green came out of the goal and Alastair Patterson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 32nd play minute Alastair Patterson came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised George Green. 2-0. After 35 played minutes Droylsden got a freekick which was hit by Luke Greenman. George Green didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alastair Patterson went, in the 38th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alastair Patterson got free with George Green in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Piers Kerridge took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Duncan Draper, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Runcorn booed when Droylsden was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Trey Carsley didn't get a good kick on the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alastair Patterson to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Hugh Newby shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but George Green saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. George Green made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hugh Newby in the 65th minute of play. George Green made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gerry Fleming in the 66th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 68 minutes, Alastair Patterson put it in 4-0 from a short distance just to the right of George Green. George Green showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hugh Newby in the 74th minute of the match. Hugh Newby scored 5-0 in the 77th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of George Green, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a defensive mix-up in Runcorn's zone, Trey Carsley stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. George Green came out of the goal and Trey Carsley tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 83 minutes of play, Droylsden's Alastair Patterson made it 6-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. George Green was left in no man's land by his defense there! George Green showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alastair Patterson, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alastair Patterson in the 89th minute of play forced Runcorn's goalkeeper George Green to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Hugh Newby had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gerry Fleming in the 94th minute of play forced Runcorn's goalkeeper George Green to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gwyn Wybrow during the 96th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Droylsden made a substitution. Dylan Marlow replaced Kurt Dobson. When the referee ended the match the Droylsden players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
