Callum Swain struck a weak shot in the 5th minute. Teddy Lucas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Black Universe. An unexpected shot in the 10th minute by Lenny Halliday got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After a defensive mix-up in Black Universe's zone, Tris Gardner stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Derek Atkinson came out of the goal and Tris Gardner tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Black Universe's Derek Atkinson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Martyn Branch in the 17th minute of play. After 20 played minutes Black Universe got a freekick which was hit by Samuel Lloyd. Derek Atkinson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martyn Branch, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. A collision led to Great Addington getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Danny Duffy hit a great ball. In the 35th minute Tris Gardner shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Derek Atkinson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 36th minute Martyn Branch shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Derek Atkinson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 38 minutes into the game, Great Addington's Lucas Cambridge nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Derek Atkinson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Lucas Cambridge to strike the kick off in the second half. If Richie Mahon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Alexander Weeks's late challenge caught a Great Addington's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alexander Weeks helped the player get up and apologised. The audience thought a goal was coming when Martyn Branch got free with Derek Atkinson in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tris Gardner received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Derek Atkinson came out and tried to block the shot, but Tris Gardner slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 59th minute. In the 65th minute, Ed Peyton reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Derek Atkinson. The goal made the score 0-3. In the 69th minute, Lenny Halliday made a precise shot to the right of Teddy Lucas. Great Addington's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. After having played for 77 minutes, Tris Gardner managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Great Addington's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tris Gardner was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Great Addington getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Jasper Boatman hit a great ball. When Kris Cornforth came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Black Universe fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kris Cornforth couldn't finish the play. Teddy Lucas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kris Cornforth, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. In the 85th minute Ed Peyton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Derek Atkinson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 87 minutes of play, Great Addington's Martyn Branch made it 1-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. If Lenny Halliday had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Black Universe supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Great Addington's performance. The match ended with a win for Great Addington.
