In the 12th minute Pete Chilton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacob Clare saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rowan Salmon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Garth Revell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Marlow FC booed when Wembley City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Neil Carr didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wembley City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Marlow FC the free kick. After 38 played minutes Wembley City got a freekick which was hit by Julian Edworthy. Julian Edworthy was shown his second yellow card after 43 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Liam Coulson made a kick off. Rowan Salmon's late challenge caught a Marlow FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 66th minute, Liam Coulson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With an all-out effort, Marlow FC's Jacob Clare threw himself towards the right post 70 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Pete Chilton, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 81st minute of the match Dean Sawyer sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jacob Clare skillfully saved the ball. Niall Argent recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Marlow FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
