The supporters of East Grinstead booed when Beckton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. East Grinstead's Vincent Straker played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Drew Merrill in the 20th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Greg Nightingale in the 23rd minute of play forced Beckton's goalkeeper Pierce Bennett to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 26th minute, Niall Hurst reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Pierce Bennett. The goal made the score 2-0. Fraser Gerrard got his second yellow card in the match during the 36th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Fraser Gerrard kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Curtis Hanley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Pierce Bennett tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, East Grinstead's Niall Hurst got a free kick in the 47th minute. 48 minutes into the match, East Grinstead's goal looked a bit too open when Drew Merrill came free, but Vincent Straker reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The wind increased when Drew Merrill made the kick off in the second half. Pierce Bennett showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Niall Hurst in the 53rd minute of the match. After 56 minutes, Niall Hurst mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the East Grinstead and the Beckton players grew even worse after the yellow card. Niall Hurst hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Pierce Bennett showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Crispin Gilchrist, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. 68 minutes into the game, Jim Millman was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Beckton's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave East Grinstead the free kick. After a rather tough play, Beckton's Jim Millman got a free kick in the 68th minute. Bruce Newby's late challenge caught a Beckton's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bruce Newby helped the player get up and apologised. Jay Beale placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Marc Broom could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but Vincent Straker made a huge save. In the 87th minute, Curtis Hanley got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 90 minutes into the match, Beckton's goal looked a bit too open when Crispin Gilchrist came free, but Pierce Bennett reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 91 minutes, Crispin Gilchrist put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Pierce Bennett. Marc Broom received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Vincent Straker tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. For all the effort they put into the match, the Beckton players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for East Grinstead.
