After some careless play in the Beckton defense, Derek Pitt kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Pierce Bennett. The Beckton fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pierce Bennett should have stopped the shot. Marc Broom could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Pete Halford made a huge save. If Charles Gunn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Russell Brownlow's late challenge caught a Huddersfield FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Russell Brownlow helped the player get up and apologised. Russell Brownlow kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. Huddersfield FC's Pete Halford played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Drew Merrill in the 44th minute of play. When Beckton's Drew Merrill in the 45th minute got a chance for a shot 45th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Huddersfield FC's goalie prevented a goal. The Beckton players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Huddersfield FC were winning 0-2.

Pierce Bennett tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 89 minutes into the game, Cliff Reynolds recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Pierce Bennett. Cliff Reynolds showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-4.
