Ben Gaskell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcus Swift in the 14th minute of the match. Ozzy Sutton's late challenge caught a River Thames FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ozzy Sutton helped the player get up and apologised. After 15 played minutes Bulwell got a freekick which was hit by Ozzy Sutton. 21 minutes into the game, River Thames FC's Ian York nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ben Gaskell made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. 24 minutes into the match, Ian York notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Bulwell's Ben Gaskell. Ben Gaskell was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ben Gaskell didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ian York went, in the 27th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ian York in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ben Gaskell saved Bulwell from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ian York in the 32nd minute of play forced Bulwell's goalkeeper Ben Gaskell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ben Gaskell showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ian York, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Ben Gaskell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ian York in the 37th minute of the match. River Thames FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ian York was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ben Gaskell breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 46th minute, Ian York left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The River Thames FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-5. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-5 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ian York was the one to do the kick off. Ben Gaskell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ian York in the 79th minute of play. 81 minutes into the match, River Thames FC's Ian York sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ben Gaskell narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Bulwell's zone, Marcus Swift stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ben Gaskell came out of the goal and Marcus Swift tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 86 minutes, Ian York made it 1-9 with a short kick to the right side. Bulwell's Ben Gaskell tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot.
