The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gregory Winterburn to strike the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Sutton Valence FC's Jack Norton got control of the ball when Derek Pitt tried to sneak it across the goal line. Charles Gunn who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 59thth minute tested the skills of Jack Norton when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Gordon Newman's late challenge caught a Sutton Valence FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Huddersfield FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
