Ronny Maxell received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Billy Gilmour tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Billy Gilmour made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Theagenis Ksagorarakis in the 8th minute of play. When Simon Charlton fell near the penalty area in the 12th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Horfield's protests and gave Simon Charlton a yellow card for diving instead. Simon Charlton hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Royston FC's Göyüş Ziyadov got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. George Șerbulescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ronny Maxell in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Billy Gilmour saved Royston FC from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Theagenis Ksagorarakis in the 24th minute of play forced Royston FC's goalkeeper Billy Gilmour to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Billy Gilmour showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Theagenis Ksagorarakis, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Through an outstanding action, after 29 minutes, John-Paul Snowden successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. A collision led to Royston FC getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Lewis Willmott hit a great ball. When Theagenis Ksagorarakis came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Horfield fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Theagenis Ksagorarakis couldn't finish the play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Richard Varela made a kick off. Theagenis Ksagorarakis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Theagenis Ksagorarakis's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 59thth minute, Billy Gilmour skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Billy Gilmour came out of the goal and Theagenis Ksagorarakis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Horfield's Theagenis Ksagorarakis got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. John-Paul Snowden made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Göyüş Ziyadov in the 78th minute of play. John-Paul Snowden stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Richard Varela's shot from short distance in the 81st minute. In the 83rd minute, Horfield's Theagenis Ksagorarakis ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Billy Gilmour. Billy Gilmour yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-5. When Theagenis Ksagorarakis came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Horfield fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Theagenis Ksagorarakis couldn't finish the play. Billy Gilmour stood somewhat misplaced when Theagenis Ksagorarakis came free in front of goal and shot 1-6 to the left of him in the 90 minute. In the 93rd minute Richard Varela shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but John-Paul Snowden saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Horfield's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
