But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nigel Bond couldn't finish the play. Benjamin Maylett showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edmund Ziombkowski in the 12th minute of the match. 14 minutes into the match, Purple Cobras's Abraham Read sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jack Nicholson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 15th minute the ball was on its way in behind Purple Cobras's goalkeeper Benjamin Maylett, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Purple Cobras's Nigel Bond got a free kick in the 20th minute. With his leg Jack Nicholson managed to avoid a goal in the 25thth minute, when Purple Cobras's Erwin Schrödinger fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Blyth AFC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 29th minute, when Erwin Schrödinger scored to the left of an out of position Jack Nicholson, making the score, 1-0. Benjamin Maylett made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Virgilio Valery in the 32nd minute of play. The referee felt a red card was in order, 34 minutes into the game, when Rodney Hurst put in a rough tackle. In a very dangerous position, a player in Purple Cobras fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 33rd minute. Penalty! Jânio Guedes scored 1-1 in the 35th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benjamin Maylett, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 41 minutes into the match, Purple Cobras's goal looked a bit too open when Pat Hartson came free, but Benjamin Maylett reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

When Stu Hislop came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Purple Cobras fans jumped to their feet. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Erwin Schrödinger in the 53rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jack Nicholson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Benjamin Maylett made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edmund Ziombkowski in the 58th minute of play. After some careless play in the Purple Cobras defense, Virgilio Valery kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benjamin Maylett. The Purple Cobras fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benjamin Maylett should have stopped the shot. 65 minutes into the match, Purple Cobras's goal looked a bit too open when Edmund Ziombkowski came free, but Benjamin Maylett reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 67th minute of the game. One of Blyth AFC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Purple Cobras:s goal. In the 73rd minute, Albert Booker hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Virgilio Valerys short, quick shot in the 75thth minute got Benjamin Maylett to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jânio Guedes in the 78th minute of play forced Purple Cobras's goalkeeper Benjamin Maylett to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Erwin Schrödinger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Jack Nicholson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Purple Cobras's Benjamin Maylett played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edmund Ziombkowski in the 82nd minute of play. 83 minutes into the game, Edmund Ziombkowski lined in a short shot 1-3 behind a frustrated Benjamin Maylett. In the 88th minute Erwin Schrödinger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jack Nicholson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 91 minutes into the game, Purple Cobras's Erwin Schrödinger nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jack Nicholson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. Connor Graves kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Purple Cobras's zone, Pat Hartson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benjamin Maylett came out of the goal and Pat Hartson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
