Mark Clemence showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Brendon Boston, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. Brendon Boston received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Mark Clemence tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Brendon Boston took the ball and in the 8 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mark Clemence. Mark Clemence dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. 12 minutes into the match, Seth Higgins notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Horfield FC's Mark Clemence. Mark Clemence was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A collision led to Horfield FC getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Garry Dunn hit a great ball. Mark Clemence took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joey Folwill, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Horfield FC defense, Shaun Osgood kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mark Clemence. The Horfield FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mark Clemence should have stopped the shot. 29 minutes into the match, Horfield FC's goal looked a bit too open when Brendon Boston came free, but Mark Clemence reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 30 played minutes Teddy Mansell rounded Viktoria Plzen's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-3. 33 minutes into the game, Chesney Wheeler cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-4. Mark Clemence was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Victor Blakeley could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Esteban Kaiet made a huge save. If Brendon Boston had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 46th match minute, Viktoria Plzen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Chesney Wheeler to maneuver through the defense. Zane Needham kicked well hit freekick during the 48th minute of the match. Brendon Boston struck a weak shot in the 49th minute. Mark Clemence didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Viktoria Plzen. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-4 lead.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Chesney Wheeler to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 74th minute Victor Blakeley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Esteban Kaiet saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Horfield FC's Mark Clemence played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Shaun Osgood in the 78th minute of play. Viktoria Plzen's Esteban Kaiet played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Victor Blakeley in the 86th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Stefan Hurren during the 88th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
