The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Shaun Osgood in the 4th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tommy Ellis prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 6 minutes into the game, Manchester Devils's Ivan Coleman nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Reuben Cousins made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. If Seth Higgins had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tommy Ellis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chesney Wheeler, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Brendon Boston received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Tommy Ellis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 15 minutes into the match, Viktoria Plzen's Brendon Boston sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tommy Ellis narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 17th minute, Ed Goldthorpe hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Chesney Wheeler managed to get in a good position for a shot. Viktoria Plzen's supporters rose to their feet, but Chesney Wheeler was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tommy Ellis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 21 minutes into the match, Manchester Devils's goal looked a bit too open when Seth Higgins came free, but Tommy Ellis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Manchester Devils's zone, Shaun Osgood stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tommy Ellis came out of the goal and Shaun Osgood tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 27 minutes of play, Viktoria Plzen's Seth Higgins made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tommy Ellis was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Chesney Wheeler in the 35th minute of play forced Manchester Devils's goalkeeper Tommy Ellis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Shaun Osgood sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 39th match minute, Manchester Devils was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hayden Wadham to maneuver through the defense. With an all-out effort, Manchester Devils's Reuben Cousins threw himself towards the right post 42 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Hayden Wadham, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After a defensive mix-up in Manchester Devils's zone, Seth Higgins stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tommy Ellis came out of the goal and Seth Higgins tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Bavo Le Lion recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Manchester Devils's zone, Chesney Wheeler stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tommy Ellis came out of the goal and Chesney Wheeler tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 58th minute the ball was on its way in behind Manchester Devils's goalkeeper Tommy Ellis, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Kristian Welsh hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Manchester Devils's Tommy Ellis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chesney Wheeler in the 61st minute of play. Chesney Wheeler recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Viktoria Plzen's Shaun Osgood got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Manchester Devils getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Nicky Marenghi hit a great ball. Viktoria Plzen were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Manchester Devils to leave the ground with a draw.
